Interview Questions and Answers - 16418 Words

The Best Answers to Tough Interview Questions Tell me about yourself. This is really more of a request than a question. But these few words can put you on the spot in a way no question can. Many quickly lose control of the interview during the most critical time- the first five minutes. This is not the time to go into a lengthy history or wander off in different directions. Your response should be focused and purposeful. Communicate a pattern of interests and skills that relate to the position in question. Consider your response to this question as a commercial that sells your autobiography. Provide an answer that includes information about where you grew up, where you went to school, your initial work experience, additional education and†¦show more content†¦Such responses indicate a lack of long-term interest since you do not plan to be around for long. While some may respond that they honestly havent really thought that far ahead, the interviewer infers that the applicant lacks vision and goals. Describe a major goal youve set for yourself recently. Give an example of a goal you both set and achieved. Ideally, this should be a professional goal; such as improved time management skills, achieved new performance targets, or learned a new skill. A personal example can also be appropriate if it reinforces your pattern of accomplishments. For example, if you take a great deal of initiative and quickly move into leadership positions, you might use a personal example relating to your recent community work: organized a community walk-a-thon that raised $30,000 in matching funds to purchase new computers for the local library. Talk about results of achieving your goal. This indicates you set realistic goals and that you can focus on outcomes. Select an example that has interesting outcomes related to your efforts. The example should showcase your skills and abilities. Now that youve had a chance to learn more about us, what would you change about our company? Be careful here. Comparitive Flood Stories Essay - 3018 Words

Comparitive Flood Stories Most comparisons between Genesis and ancient Creation or Flood stories can be classified as comparative religious studies. They generally involve one text isolated from its original historical context (e.g., the Babylonian creation myth Enuma Elish or the Flood tablet of the Gilgamesh Epic) and one related biblical narrative. On the basis of currently available evidence, their earliest-known written form can be dated only to the first half of the first millenium B.C. William Shea of Andrews University has pointed out that by using isolated, solitary Creation or Flood stories, that we neglect a large amount of other literary critcism which can be very helpful to our understanding. The Genesis†¦show more content†¦She perfected divine service and the august offices, she said to the (surrounding) regions: Let me institute peace there The following is a summary of the initial creation: â€Å"When An, Enlil, Enki, and Ninhursaga [Nintur] fashioned the darkheaded (people) they had made the small animals (that come up) from (out of) the earth come up from the earth in abundance, and had let there be, as befits (it), gazelles, (wild) donkeys, and fourfooted beasts in the desert The god of wisdom, and Nintur were active in creation. It is obvious that this is referring to Sumerians, as they named themselves, â€Å"the dark-headed people† in history. This seems to indicate that this part of the text was preceded by a creation account. Shea also believes that the previous missing section is related to â€Å"the development of man’s plight†. In a text from Ur, we find a reference to a time when there was neither agriculture nor weaving of cloth. Despite the obvious danger of this type of poverty, the people lived safely, as there were no dangerous animals and man had no opponent. The next legible section of the text, according to scholars, discusses the establishment of kingship, which was believed to be a gift from the gods. Special Education Teachers Help Develop An Iep - 1223 Words

Special Education teachers help develop an IEP, or Individualized Education Program, for each student with disabilities (â€Å"Educating†). The IEP process is evaluation, determination of eligibility, and development (â€Å"Understanding). IEP’s take time to fill out because of the details. Special Education Teachers have to fill one out for each student they have. It is important that IEP’s are filled out properly in order to correctly track each child’s individual progress. Some IEP’s can be ten through twenty pages on average, sometime more. Paperwork and meetings are also a large part of the job for Special Education teachers. Special Education teachers will use various, but simple, techniques, such as more practice, explanation, repeating information, and devoting more time to work on skills to help their students learn. The teachers lead every student through the education process (â€Å"Educating†). Schools use many different strategies to help students receiving Special Education services in order to succeed in general education settings. Some of the strategies are assistive technology and modifications (â€Å"Understanding†). Assistive technology is any type of software, equipment, or system that can be used to improve the education of a special needs student. Modifications are lessons or sources that are changed to meet the level of needs for each student. Each student has different needs, ability levels, learning methods, and how they understand what they are being taught. Different instructions and individual teaching methods are needed for each student. This is another different, sometimes difficult, task Special Education teachers have to do compared to General Education teachers. It is harder in multiage classrooms (Ferry). Teacher may also have to use special software to create lesson plans and IEP’s. Technology is becoming a huge part in teaching special needs students. Soon, the education field will have more than the strategies they do now. Special

Shattered dreams. Broken promises. They were hung between freedom and slavery. They struggled to find a different kind of freedom and independency where justice has yet to exist and racism wasn’t just a part of life, but what life was all about. New Orleans New Orleans is a city in southern Louisiana, located on the Mississippi River. Most of the city is situated on the east bank, between the river and Lake Pontchartrain to the north. Because it was built on a great turn of the river, it is known as the Crescent City. New Orleans was founded in 1718 by Jean Baptiste Le Moyne, sieur de Bienville, and named for the regent of France, Philippe II, duc dOrleans. It remained a French colony until 1763, when it was surrendered to the†¦show more content†¦Many free women of color were highly skilled seamstresses, hairdressers, and cooks while some owned property and kept boarding houses. Some of them were planters before and after the Civil War and owned slaves. Although shocking and incomprehensible to many people today, the fact that some free people of color owned slaves must come to light. Discrimination While financial prosperity was common, discrimination was also. Although business was performed between whites and Creoles of color in public houses, they did not socialize outside of business arrangements. Striking of a white person by a free person of color could mean arrest. Free people of color could not vote, no matter how white they may have looked. Women by law were forced to cover their hair with a scarf in the early part of the 19the century. Being clever, they soon sported sophisticated headgear complete with feather and jewels. Opera and theatre going was a favorite pastime of both white and the gens de couleur, although they were not seated together. Placage American immigrants found them to be quite exotic, for the black Creoles were Catholic, French or Creole speakers, and accustomed to an entirely different lifestyle. Placage was an arrangement between a free woman of color and a white â€Å"protector†. As it was illegal for a woman of color to marry a white man. The arrangements benefited both parties involved.

Ducle et Decorum Est Essay Example For Students

Ducle et Decorum Est Essay This poem titled Dulce Et Decorum Est is written by the poet Wilfred Owen during World War One. Dulce Et Decorum Est is a part of a common phrase that was tossed around during Owenss time, the full phrase is Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori, which loosely translated into English means, It is sweet and becoming to die for ones country or It is sweet and seemly to die for ones country. In this poem, this phrase to quoted as being the old Lie; alluding to the fact that Owen believed that this proposed patriotism especially in face of a war was a lie. This poem is one of the many anti-war poems that Owen had written and is one of the many poems that was only published after the war was over. It is important to note that this poem centers around the retelling of a gas attack, one of the battlefield methods that were common in Owenss day, this could be seen as a focal point or even an extended metaphor that extends throughout the poem. It is also interesting to consider that this poem is believed to have been written in 1970, when Owen was recuperating in Craig Lockhart Hospital, this could explain the structure that was previously lacking in his earlier poems.  This poem comprises of four sections, which are literally translated into 4 parts. The first paragraph describes the numbness of the shell-shocked soldiers, the second giving an account of a gas attack, the third detailing the haunting effect of this gas attack and the fourth and last paragraph divulges gory details that are told in an invective tone that is further heightened by the rousing climax of the last 2 lines, Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori. This poem is written in a loose iambic pentameter, using 9, 10 and 11 syllables per line, instead of the usual solid 10. It gives the poem a loose sort of structure as it goes along, which helps the message that Owen is trying to portray; that of his distaste towards war. It is also written in a strict AB rhyme scheme, which also helps with the structure of the poem. The poems speed and meter quickens as the poem goes along, with the introduction of the second passage, where there are words in caps and plenty of exclamation marks, GAS! Gas! Quick, boys! This quickens the pace of the poem and it shows the rapidity and suddenness of the war. This vivid description of the war, allows the reader to experience the horror of a gas attack and it invokes pity and sadness to the reader.  Owenss tone on the surface seems to be one of non-accusation, but as we read into the passage, we can see Owenss seething anger to the people who quote the old Lie, with the use of vivid description such as coughing like hags and Drunk with fatigue. Moving onto the meaning of the poem. As clearly stated in the description above, this poem is anti-war in nature. In conveys in no uncertain terms the disgust that Owen has towards the war. This retelling of a normal gas attack, allows the reader to experience, the suddenness, the unexpectedness, the sheer horrific nature of it all, therefore invokes feelings of sadness and pity in the reader.  Let us begin with the portrayal of the soldiers, the physical aspect of them. They are described as Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed and coughing like hags The first impression we have of the soldiers is that they are tired, exhausted to the point where they can be referred to as beggars, they are coughing like hags, showing how ill they must feel, the fatigue is taking a toll on them, they are like beggars and hags, are similes that carry ark imagery, showing and emphasizing the darkness and dullness of war. The alliteration of Knock-kneed again brings poignancy to these opening lines of the sheer exhaustion of these soldiers. The usage of the word sacks could carry a hidden meaning of the government putting wool over these soldiers eyes, putting sacks over them that cloud their better judgment. .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .postImageUrl , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:hover , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:visited , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:active { border:0!important; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:active , .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u223c034bb558b4a048fe6daa0698979c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Poetry Analysis Persuasive EssayThe next paragraph describes a gas attack; the quickening of the pace has already been expounded earlier in this commentary so I shall go more into the detail of this paragraph. These soldiers are floundering like a man in fire or lime; they are not clear and hidden by misty pains and thick green light and are drowning. This detailed description of the poison gas just show the intense horrors brought about by this war, and it leaves the reader shaken as you can literally feel the white-hot intensity of that moment, where people are running like on fire, people slowly sinking to the ground like they are drowning. These people are in the multi tudes to the point where they all seem blurred, unreal even. These vivid descriptions are just characteristic of Owenss poetry, where his no holds barred policy leaves great impact on the reader.

Case on Industrial Dispute free essay sample

Road Transport Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Corporation), has been constituted under the Road Transport Corporation Act, 1950. The respondent which is a Trade Union of the appellant-Corporation, filed an Application before the Labour Court, Dehradun under Section 11-C of the U. P. Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 read with Section 13A of the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, praying for a declaration that the 15 persons who were appointed on contract basis as drivers and conductors as shown in the annexed chart, be declared as regular and substantive workmen of the Corporation. It was also prayed in the said Application that the concerned workmen be given all the benefits and facilities of regular employees. The aforesaid Application was allowed by the Labour Court, Dehradun by its order dated 19. 9. 2001. The Labour Court directed that the concerned workmen be given the minimum wages admissible to the regular employees in the pay scales of drivers and conductors. We will write a custom essay sample on Case on Industrial Dispute or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The Labour Court also held that the said workmen are employees of the Corporation. It is not disputed that the concerned workmen were appointed on contract basis. Before the Labour Court, the Corporation had contended that Rule 2 of U. P. S. R. T. C Employees (Other than Officers) Service Regulations, 1981 (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) clearly mentions that these regulations shall not apply to employees working on contract basis. The persons working on contract basis filed Writ Petition No. 41349/1999 Kanchi Lal and others vs. U. P. S. R. T. C before the Allahabad High Court for grant of same benefits as the regular employees of the Corporation, but the said writ petition had been dismissed. However, the bjection of the Corporation was rejected by the Labour Court. It filed a writ petition thereafter before the High Court which was dismissed by the impugned judgment. It was contended in the writ petition by the appellant that the concerned workmen had not been selected in terms of the process of selection required for appointment of regular employees and hence they cannot be directed to be given minimum pay scales of regular emp loyees. It was also contended that the Labour Court acted beyond its jurisdiction by passing the impugned order dated. In our opinion, the Labour Court could not have granted the relief it granted by the order dated 19. 9. 2001, as that could only have been granted on a regular reference under Section 4-K of the U. P. Industrial Disputes Act or under Section 10 of the Industrial Disputes Act. A perusal of the order of the Labour Court dated 19. 9. 2001 shows that it has not referred to any standing order of the appellant. On the other hand, paragraph 3 of the said order refers to Rule 2 of the 1981 Regulations which clearly provides that the Regulations do not apply to employees engaged on contract basis. In our opinion, the Labour Court cannot amend the Regulations while hearing an application under Section 11-C of the Industrial Disputes Act. As already stated above, the scope of Section 11-C is limited to decide a question arising out of an application or interpretation of a standing order and the Labour Court cannot go beyond the scope of Section 11-C of the U. P. Industrial Disputes Act. For the reasons given above, the appeals are allowed. The impugned judgment of the High Court as well as the order of the Labour Court dated 19. 9. 2001 are set aside. However, it is open to the concerned workmen to raise their grievances before the concerned authority under Section 4-K of the U. P. Industrial Disputes Act or under Section 10 of Industrial Disputes Act, as the case may be, and if the State Government refers such a dispute to the Labour Court or Tribunal, we hope that the same will be decided expeditiously.
